Hotel Matsunoi Annex
In August 2026, we opened the Hotel Matsunoi Annex on a site adjacent to the current hotel. The rooms are mainly modern Japanese-style twin and double rooms, offering quality time to relax to your heart's content.
Art paintings
Japanese aesthetics on the walls
The hotel's art was commissioned from illustrator Kiida Oikawa; the murals evoking the history of the Shin-Okubo area are well worth a look.
Kiida Oikawa — painter and illustrator, graduate of Tokyo University of the Arts. Actively engages in live painting collaborations with artists of other genres such as photographer Toshi Ohta and percussionist Steve Eto, as well as slide contributions to concerts. Also illustrated the serialized novel by Mariko Hayashi in a women's magazineBOAO(Magazine House; ceased publication with the November 2008 issue), among many other diverse activities.
Sushi izakaya
Sushi Sake Sakana "Sugidama" Shin-Okubo
A new-style sushi izakaya, "Sushi Sake Sakana Sugidama Shin-Okubo," has opened on the first floor of Hotel Matsunoi.
Alongside authentic sushi crafted by skilled chefs, you'll find playful, photogenic dishes such as the melt-in-your-mouth "drinkable salmon" and the ball-shaped "Sugidama potato salad" that's a hit on social media.
A rich selection of carefully chosen sake from across Japan brings out the flavor of the sushi. In a cozy space filled with the warmth of wood, enjoy delicious moments while feeling the buzz of Shin-Okubo. Perfect for meals during your stay or a drink to color your evening.
